We have been invited to participate in the Klinhom Tommuan 2022 event, which is a community-run art event in Chiang Mai. Our aim is to bring the concept of space exploration closer to the local community. While space exploration is a significant topic in the media and modern world, we want to make it more accessible by using symbols and icons that are familiar to the community.
To achieve this, we have generated images using AI that transform community symbols into spaceships, space stations, and other space exploration instruments. For example, we have created a planet rover inspired by the elephant or a horse-like space estate. These images are then presented to the participants, who are invited to paint and add their own creative ideas.
Once the participants have finished painting, we animate their creations on the temple wall, creating a collaborative art piece that showcases the community’s creativity and imagination. Our project aims to inspire the community to think about space exploration in a more accessible and creative way, and to encourage them to be a part of the larger conversation about space and the future of humanity.
Can the Kuan Kama community model be applied to humanity’s colonization of other planets or space? This is the question we want to explore, as this community is a role model for harmonious coexistence between old and new generations in Chiang Mai.
